Daisetsuzan national park 2019/6/17 21:05
Hello,
I plan to climb Asahi-dake next sunday(23rd of June) - do you think it is possible? (Except spontaneous changing weather)
Where do you recommend to stay if I want to climb Asahi-dake one day and another day hike on the Kogen-numa-Meguri? Is Asahikawa a good fit in this case or is it too far from the trailheads? (I plan to take public transportation)
Another case: Is it possible to hike the asahi-dake traverse on this weekend? ( Also except spontaneous changing weather)
I have 3 days in the daisetsuzan national park and try to figure out how I schedule my days

Best greetings
Johannes

Hi!
I'm japanese living in Tokyo.

I went to Asahi-dake last summer and I recommend that you stay at the foot of Asahi-dake(ˆฎŠx‰ท๒area).
There are only 4 buses a day to go Asahi-dake from Asahikawa station and it takes about 1hour and 40minutes.

I stayed at ƒ‰ƒrƒXƒ^‘ๅแŽR hotel which is located close to Asahi-dake ropeway.
The next day, I climbed the Asahi-dake on a day trip.
The hotel was very nice and the breakfast was delicious:-)
There are some other hot-spring hotels and a camp site in the ˆฎŠx‰ท๒ area.

I'm sorry I don't know how the trail condition is and how to traverse, but it seems that a little snow remains.

Have a good mountaineering!

Sorry I didn't think about Kogen numa Meguri.
If you can get a bus leaving at 7:11 from Asahikawa sta., It may be possible to climb Asahi-dake in a day trip.

There is an English Hiking Map available at the Tourist-Info in Asahi-dake Onsen. Anyway a good place to get information.
How it looked today:

Enjoy your trip and take care. Depending on weather situation climbing Asahi-dake can be strenuous.
