I plan on going to Hakone from July 3rd to July 5th and I planned on visiting the Owakudani, but I've read that parts of the Owakudani are closed and the Hakone Ropeway is out of service. I really want to try the kurotamago. Is it being sold somewhere else or is that part of the Owakudani still open? I've tried reading the warning but Google translate does it no justice.
Thank you

Unfortunately the ropeway (shown by bold double red lines) and the road (dotted bold red line) as well as hiking courses (narrower dotted red lines) are all closed now. http://www.pref.kanagawa.jp/docs/j8g/cnt/f532566/So the entire Owakudani area is not accessible currently (as I write, as of June 21, 2019). There seems to be no sales of gkuro tamagoh (black eggs) at all. The only related products on sale I have spotted are at gKurotama 4h shop (in Sengokuhara – a different area of Hakone; please note that the English language page will take you to the original shop, which is closed now), and they only sell related products such as smoked black eggs, black egg flavored sweets, etc. http://www.owakudani.com/shop4

Due to increased volcanic activity the official warning from the JMA is still level 2 - do not approach the crater - so the whole Owakudani site is shut. That includes the buildings, shops, roads, ropeway and logically the cooking of eggs in the sulfur vents. As they are perishable/don't keep, unless someone is cooking them elsewhere (not genuine) you would be out of luck.
