How do I change jobs? (timing) 2019/6/24 15:39
I am currently trying to move to Tokyo from Hiroshima and my contract ends in September. I have been rejected from three companies because they said I applied too early.
I don't know how changing jobs work.

When should I apply for jobs?

Also I am currently an English teacher, but I'd like to work in a different field.

Should I apply to English teaching positions so that I can get a guarantor for an apartment or is there another way I could get an apartment?

Can I apply for jobs in the other field of work and have a friend's parent as a guarantor?

I'm just really confused and it's all been giving me insomnia for this whole year because I don't know who to ask.

I want to work a different type of job, but I'm afraid I'll be rejected because I don't live in Tokyo nor do I have the correct visa and I'm not sure how to make thosr transitions.

If you don't know how to answer my questions helping me find a person who could help me would be extremely kind.

Is this your first real job ever?
Fresh graduate?
What type of resident status you have now?

Read below to get some ideas what visa/resident status is and how to go about it. Especially the type of visa parts.

Type of allowable jobs are tied to type of visa/resident status you have.
Anything different you will need to apply for change of status.

Work type status/visa require sponsor by company.

What jobs did you applied for that got rejected?

My current job is my first real job ever. I graduated 2 years ago.

My current visa is a work visa for specialist in humanities/ engineering/ international services.

I'd like to change it to Artist and work part time jobs related to this. (I don't really want to go into detail about what or how, but these jobs I'm qualified for and they're not always associated with companies and more like apprenticeships)

I was rejected from Sparta, Gaba, and Rosetta Stone...well, put on hold, but I'm taking it as a rejection.

That's explain it.

You'll need to apply for 'permission to engage in other activities....' if you plan to do part time jobs that are non-related to your resident status. Also depending on your employment contract clause.
Some people do get away with it, albeit if you get caught doing it, you may harm your resident status or problem with renewal.

Apply for change of status to Artist if you can get organization/someone to sponsor you and show that you have enough to fund your stay in Japan.
The artist visa is not for people who want to be artists but mostly for already established, internationally acclaimed artists ...

You do have to understand, in the case of visa/resident status immigration related matters, it is not what you want but what you need in order to satisfy the immigration rules.

In case of eikaiwa/language school, employment is all year round, depending on vacancies.
It's is different from ALT, where ALT vacancies mainly follow the public school year cycle, though sometimes you do get urgent requirement to fill in some spot.

So I should apply for permission to engage in other activities at the point where I have a part time job, however does that mean I need a full time job in the job that is related to my visa or could that also be part time?

If so then I will just continue with my plans.

I was planning on getting an English teaching job in Tokyo without an exclusivity contract and then finding the part time job then.

But I'm not sure if I could also just get a part time English teaching job and that would cover the requirements for me visa.

This is all really confusing...
