Translation of a confusing text 2019/6/29 09:32
こいつら仲間の攻撃を うまく揺動にあててきやがる.

Can someone help translate that?

This word 揺動 (youdou) meaning “rocking” could be a mis-kanji-conversion of another word 陽動 (youdou), meaning diversion, feigning tactics in military maneuvers.

I can only guess without any additional context, but my guess would be either:
- These guys are good at using attacks by their comrades to rock/upset us.
- These guys are good at using attacks by their comrades as diversionary maneuver.

Thankyou for your answer. Do you think

うまく might be modifying anything here 揺動にあててきやがる.

And is あててきやがる essentially a set phrase?

うまく means “(do something) well,” that’s why I put “...they are good at…”, so yes modifying the verb あててきやがる in that phrase.

揺動にあててきやがる is a colloquial/a bit vulgar way to say:
揺動にあててくる. To use (the attacks) as diversionary maneuver.

I don’t quite understand this phrase of “揺動にあてる” that’s why I said the earlier answer was my best guess. I hope it helps.
