Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in May

Hello, I'm planning a visit to the Alpen Route in mid-May of the coming year. I wanted to ask if you have information on the level of congestion in this period, because on the official website they say: "Somewhat crowded. Expect waiting times around 1 hour for Ropeway & Cable Cars" and this scares me. Do you have any feedback? To best optimize the experience, is it better to start sleeping in Toyama do the Alpen and the next night sleep in Matsumoto, or sleep in Ogizawa and then in Toyama? Thank you

I did this trip once in the month of May a few years ago. It was busy, yes. However, I was advised to beat the crowd by starting early, actually I stayed the night in Toyama, and took the first train the next morning from Dentetsu Toyama Station. The plan worked well, as most of the tour groups arrived a wee bit later.

Thanks, great advice. from what I understand over the years there are even more tourists. Wake up early is the solution. I am also seeing to stay overnight in Tateyama / Ogizawa so as to be still in advance in response to the many groups.
