Sorry to hear of your situation.

In Japan, the Civil Code considers bigamy as an inappropriate marriage (Article 732), and such marriages can be gannulledh due to bigamy (Article 744).

If the Japanese gwifeh knew/knows that he was married, then she can be charged with bigamy under the Criminal Code (Article 184) too.

I believe you need to file a complaint with the Family Court in Japan.

You are married with your husband by which country law?
You should first formally inform the current wife, because dual marriage in Japan is not allowed.

If she still does not divorce you can go to court. Which you will win. But what will be the result.
Your husband basically left you, or he would not be married with another.

Anyway your husband and his new wife can go to prison and have a high penalty.

No one can go to prison for civil affairs. And there is no legal penalty for cheating. (The formal wife can ask for compensation for her pain of course, but it's totally different from robbing or killing.)

Depends how you want to go about it.
1st thing is are both of you still legally married? Can you show proof/evidence of your marriage?

As other have said, polygamy is illegal in Japan.

In order to get married in Japan, foreigner need to provide/show proof (documentation from their country) that they are eligible for marriage, whether single or divorce.
Question will be, how did your husband managed to do that if both of you are still legally married ?

Also, what visa/resident status is your husband having now in Japan, do you know ?
If he obtained spouse status based on his marriage in Japan, then this is an immigration offence , obtaining visa/status by fraud.

@..

For adultery you are right there is indeed no punishment by prison.
There is a possible imprison/revoke of visa for illegally marring, since it is not allowed to marry twice at the same time in Japan.

Also the person committed fraud and that will bring some difficulties for the person

@justmyday

As @.. says, he needs to prove he isn't married to marry the Japanese woman.
If he can (in case he could prove he isn't married to OP), there is no problem legally at all to marry another woman.
If he can't prove, then he can't marry the Japanese woman. It means he can't stay in Japan based on the relationship with the Japanese woman.
Either way, there would be "illegally marrying" case.
