Hi.

Pretty much everything that you want to do in Kyoto is just going to be in a crush of people, as they are pretty much the top attractions. If you like getting into an elevator with 30 people, then that would be a good place to go. If however you would find that to be claustrophobic, I wouldnt do it.

I would stick to plan 2, personally. If you look to fit in an overnight stay at Kamakura and Enoshima you could see a very beautiful and historic part of Japan without the crowds, that time of year. Enoshima is hugely underrated, it is a lovely place with Fuji views and a dragon theme, and who doesnt like dragons?
