JR pass activation and reservations

I am arriving in Japan on 18 September and wish to activate my pass on arrival at Narita airport on that day but to commence on 26 September. Can I reserve seats in advance on 18 September at the JR office in Narita, prior to the activation date of the JR pass?

Yes, you can make seat reservations at the airport after activating the pass. For some trains in eastern Japan, you can even make online reservations before coming to Japan at the following website: https://www.eki-net.com/pc/jreast-shinkansen-reservation/English/wb/co...Note that the ticket office at Narita Airport can be very crowded at times. In such a case, I recommend to activate your pass somewhere else, e.g. central Tokyo.
