Gluten-free kaiseki? 2019/8/26 01:46
Hello!

In October and November, my boyfriend and I will travel to Japan for the very first time! We'll visit Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka in a two-week time span. Since I'm a foodie, I would love to try a real kaiseki dinner once or twice. However, my boyfriend has celiac disease, which complicates things tremendously considering the soy-based Japanese cuisine. Do you guys know any restaurants that serve gluten-free kaiseki?

Kind regards,
Mark

The ryokan Fukumuziro at Hakone does gluten free. It is one of my favorite places as it is 120 years old and in a lovely foresty area, within walking distance of Hakone Yumoto. Most rooms dont have a toilet in them but one does, and a private bath, it is quite spectacular.
