Tokyo Weather in November

Hello, everyone :)
I will be going to Tokyo on November 15.
May I ask how is the weather like in Tokyo in mid-November, please? Do I need a coat or would a thick sweater and heattech suffice?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, it is usually a nice time of year. Cool to cold but not freezing. Last year was unseasonally warm in the beginning of November at least, lugging around a heavy jacket was a PITA. The winds can get cold. I'd be planning on a medium weight jacket with a light jumper, or a heavier one if the forecasts have it being colder and in particular windy.

November weather is lovely. If you're used to cold temperatures, a light jacket will be fine. If you're feeling from the tropics, you can layer it up a bit with heattech. Enjoy!

I've been in Tokyo during the last week in November. The temp is roughly around 12~15 degree celcius during day time and drop below 10c down to 5c (lowest i've experience on that trip). For me, I only used a bomber jacket with two layer of summer t-shirts. (i'm from Malaysia, our clothing is usually thin, hence why I mentioned summer t-shirts). No heattech needed. In night time, I'll wrap a scarf when outdoors. However, I was in Kyoto before coming to Tokyo. Kyoto was fairly colder than Tokyo with temp steadily under 10c there. So maybe I get used to the colder climate in Kyoto first

The downside of Heattech is that it's difficult to take them off when you find yourself entering a warm room.
I would suggest, a light coat such as a trench coat, or thin AND warm sweaters such as cashmere or fleece. Those things will not become a burden when you need to take them off, and underneath them you can wear lighter things. Scarves and gloves are also handy in adjusting to various temperatures and wind conditions.
Clothing like this will do even if you make short trips to northern resorts from Tokyo (which I do every November). Meanwhile, remember that as long as you're in Tokyo, you can always buy clothes if you happen to feel you need more.

I like a merino or bamboo tank under a regular top, with a light jumper and maybe a trench over that. I also carry a silk scarf or maybe a light wool or silk/wool scarf as well.
The key is layers-I also take a uniqlo down vest which scrunches down to nothing in my cross-body bag or even the pocket of a trench but keeps the body warm if I need it.
Last year it was warm, a year or two before that it was almost snowing in November. I've been known to wear every single layer I have on an unseasonably cold day!
Have a wonderful time in Japan.
