Cancelling Kansai Thru pass

I purchased a Kansai Thru Pass online for a specific date. After purchasing, I downloaded the materials in the email and found out that the pass can only be picked up on a specific date at the Osaka Kansai Airport. I am not flying into KIX and this would be very inconvenient. The sole pick-up was not mentioned online. I had someone in Japan call them and they said there were no exceptions to the KIX pick up. Is it possible to cancel this pass?

From the official website: Refund for the PASS can be issued at the point of purchase only if they have not been used (handling fee may apply).
