What about this itinerary order instead of your suggested 14 day itinerary order?Tokyo (Nikko) - Kanazawa (via Shinkansen!) - Shirakawago (bus) - Takayama (bus) - Hiroshima/Miyajima (Hida Express/Shinkansen), Kyoto (Shinkansen) - Hakone (Shinkansen) - Tokyo (Shinkansen with a JR Pass)

Hi - Looks good but Takayama to Hiroshima in one day would be big trip. I would break it into 2 legs - Takayama to Hikone (which is about 3 hours) then overnight at Hikone (nice castle) then on to Hiroshima.
