JR East South Hokkaido Rail pass

Does the JR East South Hokkaido rail pass valid from Liyama Station to Tokyo? Or would I have to get the JR Pass that is for the whole of Japan.
(Would need the JR East South Hokkaido as we are traveling to Sapporo.)

I guess the OP is talking about Iiyama which is not included in the JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass. http://www.jreasthokkaido.com/easthokkaido/e/It is valid as far as Sakudaira, so you must pay the base fare and the Shinkansen fare for Iiyama to Sakudaira, 3390 yen one way (non-reserved seat).
