Kansai Thru Pass for 7 Days 2019/10/14 15:28
Hi guys

I'm planning on going to Japan for 2 weeks next month. We'll be spending the first week in Kansai before going up to Hakone and Tokyo. We'll be staying the entire week in Osaka (near Sakuranomiya Station) since the accomodation is a bit cheaper there. Our itinerary is something like this:

Day 2-3: Exploring Osaka. (Day 1 doesn't count since we arrive at KIX late at night)
Day 4-6: Exploring Kyoto. Will be going out to Arashiyama and perhaps Kurama if time/energy allows.
Day 7: Exploring Nara.

Although it still costs us less to stay in Osaka while traveling to and from there, than it costs to stay in Kyoto for a couple days, the travel expenses to and from cities still add up. I was wondering if a Kansai Thru Pass for the 3 days we'll be in Kyoto would be worth getting?

You dont need a pass for just roaming around Kyoto and Osaka. Doubtful you could use 1733 yen or more of travel per day. Nara and Kurama yes as they are further travel distances.

Osaka to Kyoto is 400 yen. Subways are 120 yen a ride etc.
