I just want to know where is a good day trip (5-7 hrs) from the city of Sapporo. Something like a museum, railway site, castle, or onsen. I would prefer it to be accessible by train (JR). Thank you! :D

We didn't much enjoy Otaru. I think if you've been to other places in Japan where there is a port and some western buildings, you probably won't get much out of it. We were there at the end of summer and it had a bit of that 'holiday place about to shut down' feeling about it.
Hakodate was really enjoyable though-the fort was stunning. We wanted to go up in the cable car but there was a storm so it was closed. There's a very interesting museum of Hokkaido there too. It's a long-ish trip on the train from Sapporo but the scenery on the way is quite lovely.

Seeing the sulphur vents and oni statues in Noboribetsu is pretty fun. I liked Otaru but I did go during the snow festival. If youfre there during a normal week, youfd better enjoy glassware shops and music boxes.

Like Hakodate, it's a long day trip, but I really liked Onuma Quasi National Park. I did it as a day trip from Hakodate in the Fall. They had a great carved pumpkin display along with lovely foliage.
