The Noto Peninsula Route

We are planning on driving the Noto Peninsula - the high level plan is to rent a car from Kanazawa and drive the Peninsula and continue on to Inami town. Our question is... what is the route with the best scenery? Can we do a loop (is it worthwhile), or is the most of the scenery and out and back? Is doing this as a day trip rushed or should we spend a night somewhere on the Peninsula? Rome 2 Rio routes us back through Kanazawa to get to Inami, which seems not the most direct route, but then I don't know the roads in those parts? Thank you.
