Need to confirm that JR Wide Pass covers the below
from Echigo Yuzawa to Karuizawa (Shinkansen toki and Shinkansen Sama train)
from Karuizawa to Narita via Narita express

Is the JR Pass & the Tokyo Metro the same thing & if not, what can I ride on the Metro?

Subway passes ( note that there are many different train companies in Tokyo. The Tokyo Matteo pass is only values on some of them. Depending on where you are staying and going it is more or less convenient. )
