Tokyo to Osaka with JR Pass? 2019/10/28 22:17
Hi, is there a Hikari platform in Tokyo Station? Can anyone give me specific stations or platform to ride from Tokyo Station to Osaka Station using shinkansen? Can't seem to find any route

There is no specific Hikari only platform. But you can see which platform to use on Hyperdia.

Plug in the dates and times, and under "More Options", with a full JR pass, be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass. For Osaka, the bullet train arrives at "Shin-Osaka".

Hi!

There are specific Tokaido shinkansen tracks at Tokyo Station, the track numbers change between individual Kodama, Hikaris and Nozomi. Once you have reserved a seat or have found the specific train you want, it's track number will be listed in English on a large board near the shinkansen entrance and there are also individual listings on an overhead board at the bottom of each track.

Hyperdia is a great site for finding trains. You put in your starting station within Tokyo (aka the stop near your accommodation) and the stop near your accommodation in Osaka, and it will show you how to go. Just make sure to click on "more options" to mark it to exclude Nozomi.

There are no shinkansen between Tokyo Station and Osaka Station. The shinkansen are between Tokyo Station and Shin-Osaka Station. If you are not staying near Shin-Osaka you will need to switch there to either other JR lines or to a subway. Subways are not covered by a JR Pass, but depending on where you are staying, it might be more convenient to use one. The same will go for Tokyo.

Good luck
