Hi,

We have a short transfer time at Hineno. Is this a big station? Going from airport to Shikoku.

Thanks, PH

No.
https://www.jr-odekake.net/eki/premises.php?id=0621924

Most trains fr KIX will be stopping at platform No.3 usual, but not all, some trains will be at No.2 or 1.
The train annoucemnet like this, skip to 7:18, red subs starts fr JP, EN, Chinese and Korean.
https://youtu.be/6qFM4vR6woQ
But this is recorded automatic one only, means may not conductor's arrival platform number info in EN.
Recent years conductors who provide transfer info in EN has increased, but not all.
So u should ask at JR-WEST(rail company) ticket office colored in blue ASAP.

If u have to move to the next platform(island) by stairs or elevator, it takes less than 2 mins no worry.

KIX 0:00 to Hineno 14:00, this train stopped platform No.3.

BUT, why transfer at Hineno stn???
If u take Nankai ferry fr Wakayama-ko port) to Tokushima-ko port(east side pref of Shikoku),
u should take "Nankai" train instead of "JR" train.

Or, it is quicker and easier to enter Shikoku by highway(ExpWay) bus fr KIX.

However, I may understand if u must use JR's rail Pass.

Oh my, Ananan!

Not using pass, simply used hyperdia, and your ferry and bus options don't pop up!

I will research, thank you very much!!

We want to get to Imabari. Train looks to be fastest option....

Tokushima to Imabari is 3 hours.

Thoughts? thanks, PH

Re: Hineno station 2019/11/14 09:22
Which airport?
From Kansai you would normally just have transfers at Shin-Osaka and Okayama.
I do not see a reason to include a route involving the extra transfer at Hineno.

Note, a Kansai Wide pass almost pays for itself with just this trip, so if you return to the Kansai area within five days, it will almost certainly save you money.

If u don't post the date and dep time of the train, can not verify it.
If u take a train that goes to Osaka or ShinOsaka(for Shinkansen) stn fr KIX,
basically no need to transfer at Hineno. (depends on dep time)

HyperDia does not support searching for local buses to ferry port, anyway.

If I were u, choose fr one of A) to D),
but other transfers will save money but traveling time will be longer,
also there is a ferry from OsakaNanko(south port), but not included in the four.
Use google translate for only JP text pages if u can not read.

Re: Hineno station 2019/11/15 02:57
Thanks all for your replies and input!

We will leave Kansai airport on Dec 19, between 7 and 8AM.

The goal is Imabari, (bike Shimanami) by 1-2pm. We will depart Onomichi on Dec 23, to Osaka-Namba.

Hyperdia shows a transfer at Hineno for one option.

I "did the math" for the Kansai wide pass, which can take us to Utazu. Correct me, I'm probably wrong, but after adding the "seat fees" for the routes, both to and from Osaka, and fares for non-pass legs, the savings amounts to very little.

We prefer a fast route to Imabari, as it seems it'll take 4 1/2 hours minimum.

Thank you! PH

Re: Hineno station 2019/11/15 03:16
Without pass: KIX to Imabari 12,400, Onomichi to Namba (Subway) 8,680, Total 20,080.

With pass: Pass 9,200, Utazu to Imabari 4,320, Onomichi to Okayama 3,640, Total 17,160.

So you save almost 3,000; that's non-negligible IMO.

Thanks, your answer was helpful compare to my scribbles!

And we can take 25 min longer to save Y2500.
