Cycling in Nara and Kyoto City

We plan to use electric assist bicycles during our upcoming autumn foliage viewing trip. We will be in Nara on 23 Nov and Kyoto 24-27 Nov. Do you have any advice and tips for us? For your information, we had cycled 4 days in Kyoto city during sakura season 15 years ago. This time we will be staying near Gion Shijo Station, so may use subways/trains when itfs more convenient. Any suggestions on where to go first for 24 Nov (Sunday)? This may be the busiest and crowded day during our stay. We will pick up bicycles from Kyoto Eco Trip near Kyoto Station.
