Transport at Kumamoto, Aso and Kurokawa

Hi this is my first time to Japan, will need help with Japan's transport!
We are taking train to Kumamoto, and plan to take a bus to Aso to stay for a night. The next day, we plan to take a bus to Kurokawa.
I understand there is Kyushu Odan Bus service. Do u advise to pre book the bus tickets? Or can we buy the tickets at the train counters of Kumamoto?
Are these bus tickets available at Fukuoka/ Nagasaki?
