Yakushima: Where to stay (3 nights)

Hello

I'm planning a 4 days stay in Yakushima (jetfoil early arrival / late departure plus 3 nights).

Is it a good idea to have only one place to stay all 3 nights, or is it better to stay in 2 places in different parts of the island?

I've seen a guesthouse close to Mugio that seems ok. Is it a good base? Any other part of the island recommended as a base?

Our idea is to do easy to medium hikes and one days spent driving around the island.

Any idea about accomodation will be appreciated.

Hello - Miyanoura and Anbo are the two bigger towns in Yakushima. Miyanoura is closer to Shiratani trail whereas Anbo is closer to Yakusugiland and Jomon Sugi. I have not stayed in Mugio but it is nice and very small. Miyanoura has many dining options (walking distance) and there are also number of good places to eat in Anbo. I have always stayed at Minshuku Iwakawa (in their new building - thats important). It is very reasonably priced, convenient location-wise and has a nice kitchen area. Stayed at Shiki no Yado 3 nights during our visit, very friendly owners, everything was fine, unfortunately foods were rather disappointing.

Any idea about accommodation

I've stayed at the JR hotel - very nice, but the location and price might not be for everyone.

It seems that it is better to have just one place to stay instead of splitting these 3 nights in 2 hotels.
