Hi will Otaru Snow Light Path Festival start on Feb. 8 (as reported by our beloved guide) or 9? I'm a bit confused by the official website ( http://yukiakarinomichi.org) and particularly by this sentence: [8日（土）に前夜祭を行います。]. What can I expect to find in Otaru on Feb. 8? Thank you!

They first announced that the festival will start on the 8th. Now, they changed the starting date to the 9th. And they call the 8th the 前夜祭 ("the-night-before-festival"). I can find two pieces of information about the 前夜祭: 1) there will be illumination only in some of the festival sites and 2) the details are not decided yet.
