Can you de-register address from abroad?

I have been living in Tokyo, Japan for the past 4 months as an exchange student. I am leaving on January 6th, however I just found out my city hall (Bunkyo) is closed due to the holidays until that very day. I will have no time to cancel my address registration before I leave. I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have any recommendations?
