Dear Community
We will spend four days on yakushima in july and would like to hear your opinion whether it is more convenient to stay in anbo or miyanoura port. We want to mostly go hiking and will be arriving at miyanoura.
Thanks!

It depends where you want to go hiking and on whether you will be having a car or not. If you are not going to have a car, the question of whether your hotel or a bus that departs from nearby can provide you access to the trail heads or not will be most important.

Both towns are quite well equipped in terms of accommodation options, grocery store (s) and restaurants (Miyanoura little better). Anbo has a slightly more of a fishing village vibe whereas there are more direct jetfoils/ferry options from Miyanoura. The airport is in the middle of the two towns. Anbo is closer to Yakusugiland and Jomon Sugi hikes whereas Miyanoura is closer to Shiratani hike. If you will have your own car, none of these should be a problem (in July - you cant take your own car all the way up to Jomon Sugi trailhead due to the traffic restrictions). I love Yakushima so much and enjoy your trip. There are many wonderful sites on Yakushima one is by a a decade long local American hiking guide (www.yakushimalife.com) and here are my own tips ( https://www.bizarrejourneys.com/yakushima)
