How is the public transportation in Okinawa?

Hi there, Have you ever been to Okinawa (main island) without a rental car?
We will be on Okinawa for 3 nights and are thinking about what would be best to get from A to B.
We want to see sights that are scattered all over the island. I think with the bus we will only lose time and hardly get ahead ?
Another consideration would be to book a bus tour. But there are so many different ones to choose from. And felt 100 websites where you can book something.
If someone can recommend a tour where you can see a lot of things I would be really grateful.
Peace and Best Regards Okinawa San

If you are interested in day tours, there are tour agencies near the Naha Main Bus terminal. During my 4 days visits I joint their bus tours 2 X, would not hesitate to recommend. Also, do not miss the Churaumi Aquarium, no need to join a tour for this, just take an express bus: https://churaumi.okinawa/en/ ; Hopefully, you hotel is near the city centre, for an easy access to Kokusai Dori Shopping Street.

No, there is not train in Okinawa except the monorail in central Naha. The bus network is quite dense, and there are a lot of good, English websites about it. But you will still be probably about twice as slow then when using a rental car. More information: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7116.html
