Tax reduction when sending money abroad

I am a naturalized Japanese citizen. I have been living in Japan over 8 years. I have always sending money to my family, mother as she needs my financial support. Recently, a friend of friend told me about a story of a foreigner living in Japan who says that those who support family abroad can get something like a (Annual) tax reduction. Do you guys have any information about this?
