Migraine medication in Japan 2020/3/20 09:53
I am in Tokyo and about to run out of my migraine medication (Almotriptan, 12.5 mg) and would like to know where I can get it (and under what trade names) over the counter.

I wouldnft worry about the trade name. Just bring your current drug package to a pharmacy. Any pharmacist will be able to read it.

The question really is if it is a OTC drug in Japan. I donft know that. But the pharmacist will.

when you google the word, Almotriptan, no site is found in Japanese. probably, the medicine is not sold in Japan.

@ken
Really? I did the same thing as you did in Japanese and got over 1000 results.

Looking up gtriptanh group of medications, Almotriptan does not seem to be in use in Japan. You'd need to go visit a doctor to get something prescribed.
