Uniforms in subways? 2020/4/18 03:23
Hi all,

I travelled to Tokyo last year and was surprised to see the amount of people in red yellow and green jumpsuits or different coloured overalls and just wondered who they were? This was mainly in the subway stations such as the tunnels going to the train platforms, near the gates or on the platforms.

Something like these: ?

These are normal work wear for construction workers. Specially the baggy trousers are very common.

The pictures in this link all seem a bit comical and like dressed up, but this is very normal work clothes. Different companies will use different colors and potentially their name on the uniforms.

Bright colored jumpsuits sound more like maintenance workers than construction workers.

Was this something you saw constantly, or just on certain days?

When you mentioned 「people in red yellow and green jumpsuits or different coloured overalls ]
the first thing that came to my mind was the fans of Momoiro Clover Z. It's a multi-vocalist idol singer group, with each singer having her own designated image color, and when attending their concerts, it's common for their fans to dress up in the color of their favorite member of the group, often in brightly colored jumpsuits. There's a pretty major concert venue not far from where I live, and I've gone through the station a couple of times when Momoiro Clover Z is in town, and the fans' presence on the trains is really noticeable.

I suppose that it might be fan jumper.

Recently it is so hot in Japan in the summer season.
Workers wear the fan jumper which has fans on the backside.
