Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/25 23:58

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/26 06:22
The genuine news is that a proposal for a reopening from around spring 2021 is being considered.

So, putting it as "tourism reopens in April" is, indeed, fakeish news.

Words like gmayh and gcouldh indicate possibilities, not definitive yes.
You can discuss probabilities, but as long as it is not zero then possibility exists.
Thus, you cannot call it fake.

The second paragragh even has a line, " even if is not in convrete." Refering to the plan.

The whole article is speculative. Read it again.

Funny. The OP has link the article, but clearly not read it.

The linked article is by "Ben", not my trustworthy go-to person, even if they quote a JapanTimes article, as the JapanTimes has proven to not be the greatest newspaper around (certainly not the worst).
There is a more recent article the past couple of days that talks about some quite severe restrictions for July/August next year for visitors - things like prove you have a ticket to the Olympics and we might let you in, but you're not allowed to travel anywhere other than Tokyo was my skim of the story. (The other "cute" bit was essentially locking athletes into the Olympic village other than for competition.)
However (and this is simply a hope) is that those blanket measures are for visitors from the world generally, including those with rampant covid infections. For countries with their outbreaks under control I anticipate a continuation of the country by country measures already being introduced.

"may" and "could"--------let those words sink in.

Stop being so kind as to call things "fake news". There's a more accurate word for that. It's called "a lie".

Writer is a notorious shill who makes money by getting people to click his website. Stop enabling clowns like that by clicking them, even worse by posting their links elsewhere.

When Japan opens to tourism again, you'll hear about it. Don't worry.

But is the considering to MAYBE reopen tourism in april also fake news? Or did Japan say that?

I believe the context is that the Japanese government has set April 2021 as a tentative opening date for international tourism, but it was certainly not concrete. Having a date in mind makes planning and preparation possible, particularly for industries such as airlines and hotels, but it is not a guarantee by any means.

Horry, is the article you're talking about the same as the ne you linked to? Because your topic title is
Tourism reopens in April
but the linked article's headline is
Japan May Restart Tourism In April in 2021

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/26 20:02
And "May" restart is not fake news right?

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/26 20:21
"It may restart" is not "news", it's speculation.
Like "Trump may be re-elected" or "vaccine may be found".

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/26 21:22
Horry, the point is that no one knows. It's not that it's "fake news" (which is a very misleading term), it's that no one can possibly be certain that it will be safe to open international tourism on a particular date in the future. It relies on a number of factors that could change between now and then.

Future predictions will always be possibilities, not certainties. In my opinion there is no point engaging in speculation, or planning/booking trips; just wait until tourism actually reopens so you can be confident in your future travel.

And if there never is a vaccine, predict that borders for (Western) tourists will stay closed forever or at least decades :D

Stop trying to worry people for your own enjoyment. This is a site people actually come to for useful information.

Isn't my guess true!?^^

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/27 06:56
Sooso, if there is no vaccine I highly doubt international borders will stay shut forever, or even for decades. It's just not possible in a global economy, and with so many countries relying so heavily on tourism. There would be changes - e.g. greater registration of travel, mask wearing, etc. - but it wouldn't simply be closed off forever.

As LIZ said, doom-and-gloom is not the appropriate line to take. OP asked if re-opening in April was true or not, not for people's worst case predictions.

Re: Tourism reopens in April = fake news? 2020/10/27 07:20
@Sooso - there are many viruses that do not have vaccines, and others that do. Some are effective, others are not. It is a measure of risk analysis that is performed every day on people travelling (and it applied before covid). The prospect of a decade of border closure is simply unrealistic - with or without a vaccine.

Sooso - this is the 10th known corona virus to effect humans. Was the world shut down for decades after the last 9?

Sooso - your guess is far from true. Clearly your guess is based on something other that educated facts.
