Recommendations for Fall Hikes? 2020/11/23 20:59
Hi, i came across the below video from Joe (and also read his blog on this website). Would you recommend any similar hikes which can be done in Fall seasons (November/December/Jan) ? Due to the snow, i presume this route would not be feasible and most of the huts would have closed. Thx.

Could be done in autumn, Oct/Nov. But Dec/Jan are winter, not autumn.

Most hike trials are closed in the Winter months. Many even have access closed and offer zero public transport options to access.

The places mentioned in the video are definitely not for winter, unless you are an experienced mountain climber ready for the snow and frigid temperatures.
The next question is if you want to do it as really going into the backwoods and mountain peaks, or as some day trips from civilization.
You didn't specifically say you are only interested in the Alps. You might consider some mountains in Kyushu, where it is warmer.
If you haven't looked through them yet, you might read through

maybe Sandankyo Gorge near Hiroshima could be nice for you. you can relax in an onsen there after it.
(please note that the boat trip inside the gorge is only available during autumn leave season. beside that you will be pretty much alown inside)

I find Kumano Koto trails quite nice in winter months as well unless you aim for limited peak hikes along the route such as Koyasan. I have done Nakahechi Route one February and Iseji Route in another one. I hear that the conditions are similar in the earlier months of winter, not too cold and no snow. I recommend to hike Katsuudake in Okinawa. Because in fall not too hot and not too cold in Okinawa so I think the best time to hike. Also Katsuudake is little mountain so it takes less than an hour to the top of mountain. On the top you can see beautiful Okinawa beaches and able to feel refresh air!
