Is this correct? 2021/1/22 20:15
Wanted to translate ‘detox just to retox’ from English to Japanese but I’m a beginner with Japanese so I don’t know if it’s correct :

ただレトックスするためにデトックス

What is the purpose of this translation? I hope not a tattoo...

No no, not a tattoo. Just want to be able to fully translate a favourite song of mine. I’m just stuck on the detox just to retox part since I don’t really know if “retox” is even a word

デトックスしてもまた依存するだけ

Retox refers to embark on excessive eating, drinking, taking drugs after a period of abstinence. In this case, it can be translated into 依存(Izon).

Although デトックス is a common word in Japan, "retox" is yet to be.

If you want to honor the pun, why not use the words 解毒 (detox) and 有毒 (toxic). Maybe something like

解毒しても摂るものは有毒

would work for you.
