Japanese decorative spoon as gift? 2022/2/13 07:26
My grandmother collects cute little decorative spoons that are just for show.
I wanted to find one that has writing or a picture of Japan on it.
However, I can only find normal spoons you use to eat.
Or spoons that come in a set for gifts such as weddings, etc.
And they are plain - nothing about Japan on them.
I know this is a strange question, but if anyone can direct me to silver spoon that's have something about Japan on them I would be VERY appreciative!

Souvenir stuff came up in my mind as well although I don't think it is silver one.

If you didn't mind one other than silver, I would say 'sikki' one, which is wooden one coated with Japanese lacquer. Some of them are decorated beautifully.

I have also heard that Niigata prefecture is renowned for cutlery so probably seaching with relevant keywords could give you a clue?

I found some more by Googling 記念スプーン 七宝 日本 (which means "
commemorative spoon, cloisonne enamel, Japan"). Collecting spoons is not as common in Japan as it is in, say, the U.S., but it does exist. If memory serves me right, the collection my mom had started with something from my dad's college in Japan.
