Giving up work visa, need tourist visa

My work visa expires April 20th. My last work day in March 31st. I'd like to stay in Japan until April 25th in order to collect my last paycheck. Is this possible? Don't I have to give up my work visa on March 31st? And then I will be switched to a tourist visa? How long is the tourist visa? What is the process like?

Can't your employer arrenge an alternative method to give you paycheck? Even if you can change your resident status and extend the departure day, I wonder if you have enough time for formality. Process of Immigration takes longer than usually due to covid. I hope there is someone who have the same experience and your issue will be solved.

My employer can transfer it to my US account, but claims I will lose 50,000 yen during the transfer.
