You may not be getting the full ride that you think - if you think you'll be able to take the shinkansen the whole way from Hakata Stn to Nagasaki, you are going to be disappointed. You can only take it from Nagasaki to Takeo-Onsen Stn. If you are coming from the Hakata side, you can only ride the Kyushu shinkansen from Hakata to Shin-Tosu.

I had two visits to Nagasaki in the last 6 months, once in March. Nagasaki station building has been relocated closer to the river. Rail tracks are now all on the flyover. As I see it in Nagasaki station and Takeo Onsen station, the construction project is nearly completed.

Reservation for Sep 23 first day opened at 10 AM today. Tickets for very first train leaving Takeo Onsen and Nagasaki were all sold out in 10 seconds.
