Hozugawa at Arashiyama - boating options? 2022/3/26 09:25
Just wondering what options there were to spend some time on the river itself.
My research returns 4 options;
1. Hozugawa river cruise (2 hours, one way from Kameoka)
2. powered cruise, 30mins
3. paddle boat rental
4. cormorant fishing

#1 has its own page here. Easy.
#2 interests me. It's a 30mins cruise leaving from near the Togetsukyo Bridge.
#3 I've seen a few photos online
#4 look lovely, but limited to a few summer months

My questions;
1. Has anyone taken a kid, around 8, on the 2 hour river cruise? I'm a bit worried it's a bit too "boring". kids...
2. Has anyone seen any online info about #2? I'm not having much luck.
3. any other water activities I've missed?

thanks

Do the first one. It is the most interesting and fun.

Personally for me, all the others are meh.

I thought the point of #1 is for autumn foliage viewing along the river. So, pick one of the other options if the leaves are not red.

Your #2 - powered cruise. I do not recall that unless you mean the punt boats - they take around 30 minutes. Pretty relaxing/restful on a hot day.
