P to A1 in Tokyo Immigration 2022/4/28 02:22
Hi, I received my post card from immigration and they wrote down that I have to proceed to gPh then A1 on or before May 20. (They wrote P -> A1). Has anyone encountered the same? Is there even a P counter? (lol) TIA!

you can get valuable information in Japanese, not in English. an individual foreigner has limited experiences, but professionals, immigration lawyers have bunchs of experiences.
here are some examples.
https://visa4you.tokyo/index.php/faq/item/59-nyuukann-hagaki
https://kokusaikekkon-renai-shien.com/245/visa-disallowed-2/

their points are:
if the postcard was sent by regular mail. i.e. if you got the card as everybody can read the back side, it means you can get a renewal of your status.
if they indicated you bring of 4000 yen, you are OK.
if they indicated you bring cash of 4000 yen, you may not be OK.
if they specified the date (and the time) you should come, it means negative.
if they indicated that you should come UNTIL the date( i.e. you can go at any time and date until the date), you are Ok.

when they intend to deny your application, they may send it (or a document) sealed in a envelope (and probably by registered mail).

Thank you, ken.

I was also asked to bring a \4000 stamp and my nozei/kazei shoumeisho. I guess Ifm just not familiar with the gPh counter/window at Tokyo Immigration, only D5 for submission of additional docs/ interview.

Maybe the gPh is a sloppily written gDh?

"my nozei/kazei shoumeisho"
the tax certificate which you brought was the one of 2020 year. now, you can get the newest (of 2021 year) from May 2022. they ask you bring it.

it is highly possible that your "P" is actually "D". it makes sense.

It was written that I should bring nozei/ kazei of Reiwa 3, so 2021. gPh was also well written. (Too bad we canft post photo here.) Another theory is that P is for priority window (?) since we have an infant.

UPDATE:

So we learned that starting Feb 21, 2022, consultation counters in the 2nd floor of Tokyo Immigration has been changed. D5 is now P (for Permanent Residence Inspection)
