Visa extension

Greetings everybody!

I have a question regarding to the visa extension. I applied my docs for the extension of my student visa just several days ago to the Tokyo Immigration Bureau. Do you know approximately how long they review the documents? I mean how many of you got during two weeks or within a month?

Generally it takes a week to get the Visa renewed.

I've renewed mine twice now and both times I had my new residence card within 2 weeks.

It takes about 2-4 weeks. Nowadays, it is busy period, should take about 3-4 weeks.

It does depend on the visa category. I was advised yesterday that processing time for mine will be around three months (usually past years it has been 5-6 weeks.)

Three months? Is it for the CoE or for the extension of the residence permission?

I applied for the extension of student visa (extension of residence permission to stay), but still look forward to it. It is almost 3 weeks since I had applied for the extension. Hope to get back from them soon

I applied almost 4 weeks ago, still waiting. It seems like the Immigration is busy right now. Even though, I have good attendance and good academic record. Some people say that it takes 4-6 weeks for the extension. Lets see. I will update also, once get the news from Immigration.

Three months is just extension of an existing status of residence. My CoE was years ago, and that only took five weeks.
I got around to finishing up the pieces I needed to complete/review this week and my lawyer submitted it yesterday (they have electronic filing now). They repeated again this morning saying Processing is currently taking longer than usual, especially my type of visa.
With the application lodged it pushes the expiry out by two months, but I should get it by the end of the year. Will be travelling most of that time, so enjoying some of Japan.

Thank you very much for your replies! I have got my new residence card. Even though, I had submitted all documents perfectly, it took me to renew in 4 weeks. I think that the Immigration is busy now.

And, in a follow-up to my post ages ago, I received news today that my extension has been granted. While most categories might be processed in 2-4 weeks, mine was 11 weeks this time around (roughly double last year).

That�fs great! Congratulations on getting permission for extension! By the way, can I please ask for which type of visa you applied? Is it student or working visa? And did you apply directly or through an agency (attorney)?

Business Manager - I use specialist immigration lawyers for my renewals. Yes, it cost more, but they know the system inside and out, and there were some new things this year and I needed to supply some extra information at the front end for the application.
If it was something simple like student or a one of the regular work visa categories it would not have taken this long.

I am also having the same question as how long it willl take to extend the visa(Processing period)
My self is engineering visa applied for extension on Jan 30th 2023 with attorney, waiting for 4 weeks

Even if i ask attorney he replying like please wait, i am in the plan to switch the jobs on Apr 3rd 2023
If i got my visa before that(EX: Mid march) , is it okay to switch the jobs ?
May i know what is the current processing period for tokyo immigration ?
