Does arrival stay count?

Hi all,
I will arrive in Japan on Dec 7 and leave on Dec 22. That is 15 or 16 days depending on if arrival day counts. My visa is for stay of 15 days and I don't want to overstay. Could you please confirm to me whether the arrival day would count towards my days? Thank you very much in advance!

Dec 7 = arrival day
Dec. 8 = day1
Dec.9 = day2
,,,
Dec.22=day15
immigration follows the counting rule in civil law article 140.
