Any guided tours that cover maid cafes? 2022/12/19 19:31
I want to visit a maid cafe i find the concept very interesting and intriguing and a fun thing but i think i would feel little awkward to visit one alone plus my girlfriend does not approve of it (girlfriend said she wont be accompanying me aswell).

are there any guided tours of akihabara that cover maid cafes. I feel i would be far too comfortable if someone else accompanied me than alone and would be able to enjoy the experience without causing my girlfriend to worry. i can understand/read basic Japanese but cant speak,Do maid cafes accept non-japanese asian(Indian) customers ? Are there specific atleast somewhat basic english speaking maid cafes ?

I don't know about maid cafe visits that are included as part of a guided tour but ask yourself this, do you really want to pay for and commit to a while guided tour that may include things you don't even care about just to visit a maid cafe? Lots of people go to maid cafes alone. It's quite normal. In my opinion if you are going to find a way to go to one regardless of what your girlfriend thinks (not commenting on this aspect of it as it's not my business) then you should just go alone. In a place like Akihabara you will definitely find one with English-speaking staff. Maybe try a chain like Maidreamin.

If your girlfriend does not allow you to go, then you should not go.
If not, you should go with her. It is a fun place even for female customers.

They can speak "broken" English, so it's no worry,
and Do NOT forget you can use translator apps on your phone, right?

I've been to a maid cafe once - with my parents!

It was an experience thats for sure - but now one of the lazy meals my parents like to make is omurice inspired from the visit....

I hope your parents also do the moe moe kyun ritual to make it taste better.

I went to one many years ago (2013), just to experience what they are like.

From my experience of visiting the @ Home maid cafe in Akihabara , at the entrance there is a floor level guide and it will indicate which floors has English speaking maids working that day.
Once inside and seated, I observed that the alone people were most likely Japanese otaku. Whilst the pairs/small groups were foreign travellers and I also noticed a few foreign families (with young children).

During my time there, I ordered the set that includes food, drink and also a game (I won a photo opportunity with a maid of my choice). You can also order al la carte and there are also other sets that includes 1 photo with a maid of your choice.
The food is quite overpriced and not the best in the world. Though edible.
The interactions with the maids are slightly cringey, but in a funny way and does make for a fun and interesting memory.
And I will say, that visiting a maid cafe is a perfectly fine experience for just about every one. Did I think it was wrong that parents took their young children to the maid cafe? No. Because, the maids weren't dressed or behaving like they were working in a hostess bar.
