Transit: Shirahone Onsen & Shin-Hotaka?

Hello,

We are planning to spend two nights at different onsens between Matsumoto and Takayama (travelling from East to West).

For the first night, we are planning to stay at Awanoyu Ryokan in Shirahone Onsen. For the second night, we are planning to stay in Shin-Hotaka Onsen.

While there are seperate ways to access both towns via public transit from Matsumoto, I cannot figure out how to connect from Shirahone to Shin-Hotaka.

Does anyone know if there are connections available? I would prefer to not have to rent a car.
