Hozugawa river cruise, but in reverse? 2023/1/18 07:12
Hi, I’ll be staying in Arashiyama for two nights and was interested in a river cruise. Unfortunately, the last boat leaving from Kameoka at 3 pm is really too early and doesn’t fit into our timetable well.

Is there an alternative boat that departs from Arashiyama and travels further down the river towards the central or eastern side of the city?

Thanks!

Um… have a look at the map. The river between Kameoka and Arashiyama flows through a deep valley surrounded only by nature. Thus this cruise is very scenic.
After Arashiyama tge river flows through tge city / more or less nice meadows in a city landscape. So I can’t really imagine anyone having interest in a cruise through that part.

As you say you are staying 2 days, maybe you can fit in, in tge otger day? Alternatively the torokko train from Arashiyama also traverses the same valley. Not sure what the latest departure there is.
In general also nite that in Japan even in summer it gets dark quite early.
