Fuji Excursion Train part of JR? 2023/2/7 00:57
Ifm trying to use the Japan Rail Pass Calculator to see if itfs worth buying the 7 day Japan Rail Pass. I donft see Kawaguchiko Station as a choice for a trip. Does anyone know if the Fuji Excursion train is part of the Japan Rail system and included with the Japan Rail Pass?

No it is not part of the JR network. You will need to pay a little extra for the part that is not covered by the JR pass.

Scroll down - near the bottom it says you need to pay a supplement. You will also see where it changes from JR to Fujikyu Railways (at Otsuki).

Yes, except the surcharge required when you have a designated seat
(in Car No. 1 of Fujisan Express or Fujisan View Express,
or in Fuji Tozan Densha).

How is your itinerary?

When you travel by JR for a long distance,
a total of fees for sections of your rides may well surpass the actual cost,
which may make a rail pass seem to pay off through actually it's too expensive.
