Starting in Izu Peninsula

We arrive Narita April 2 and plan to go straight to Izu Peninsula for a week in a rented car , as we hear it is nice and we don't like big cities so much - more rural towns and coastal areas. We are thinking of a roughly circular route , but recent info seems hard to find. Seafood with the Amas sounds good and some spectacular coastal scenery too, plus anything else members could suggest for two older people - no long hikes or mountain climbs please. Maybe not so much "concrete towns" too?

Shuzenji is very pretty (wasabi icecream!), and I was a big fan of the Izu Shaboten at Ito (cactus burger!) which has spectacular views of the ocean from one side and Mt Omuro on the other (wasnt game for the chairlift ride up the top)

We stayed at Ajiro at a fantastic ryokan called Taisekei - super cheap, big rooms, great food. It was a last minute change when I found out that our booked rooms at Atami didnt have windows, lol. We only went up and down the rail line, and wandered around the towns (didnt get to Shimoda). I liked Ito as a town, but didnt like Atami very much, I think that with a car you will be able to get out and see a lot more than we did, but I'd go back for sure.

Getting around izu peninsula in shizuoka prefecture is Fantastic idea
