I plan to to to Matsuyama next month. Can I use Pasmo to pay the fare on the trams?

No, Icoca, Suica, etc. cannot be used on trams in Matsuyama.

As Uji pointed out, you cannot use Pasmo on transportation run by Iyotetsu, including the trams in Matsuyama. However, for those trams and other Iyotetsu transporation systems, you can use a similar card called IC Ii Card. https://www.iyotetsu.co.jp/e-card/Or you can always use cash. Taxis there are handy too.
