I just created a japanese character for the contest but I don't know am I do a reserch about japanese right or wrong.
so I want her name " Amber " so I go for " 琥珀 (Kohaku) " but that's not the problem
her surname I want to be like "The new land " so is it okay to use " 新島 " pronoucing as Niijima?

I'm not sure what you mean.
Is there a "right or wrong" in a name?
Do you perhaps mean "realistic" instead of "right or wrong"?
What kind of a contest is this for?
