Shin-Hirayu Onsen to Takayama at night?

Me and my partner was thinking of heading to visiting the Shin-Hirayu Onsen Taruma Kanekoori Light Up. We were thinking of visiting the Shinhotaka Ropeway in the day first before heading over. But we realised that there were no buses to take us back to Takayama past around 6pm. Therefore, we were wondering how do we get back from Shin-Hirayu Onsen to Takayama Station? Will we have to get back by taxi/car? Or are there any public transportation options?
