Advice for planning a trip for the 1st time 2023/7/26 23:51
I'm wondering about advice for planning a trip to japan like locations and places to visit. The best places to stay and travel ideas and places, I'd be a solo traveller but would look for groups too.
I'd also like ideas that could include manga and the gundam cafe as well as seeing the town for attack on titan.

I know its not alot to go on but any advice or tips I'd much appreciate thank you.

Heap of ideas including suggested multiple day travel routes in JG. Plus details of all regions. Start there or with a traditional guide book to get an idea.
If you already decided you want to visit Japan, there must also be specific things / places that attract you???

For itinerary ideas: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2400.html

"seeing the town for attack on titan" --> if you're looking for a town that looks like the one in AoT, I'm afraid you won't find it in Japan.

If it's your very first time planning a (long) trip, and not just in Japan:
1) make a list of the places that you absolutely want to visit
2) write down the dates for each location if you have a time constraint (eg: events/festival/etc)
3) put them on a map, to see how much time and effort you'll need to visit them all
4) pick one of the suggested itineraries (eg: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2400_tokyo_13.html), and arrange it to include your must-see places

When and how long is your trip?
What sort of budget are you planning (low/med/unlimited/etc)?

Wade through this page and see what appeals:

As previously said, look at itineraries, Reddit is also a good source .
Then come back here with more concrete questions.

It may be a bit hard for people to just make suggestions on things to do in Japan, since there are MANY things to see and do, depending on how long you'll be staying, which area you plan on staying in, etc.

Do you have any specific ideas of where you want to visit or things to do aside from manga/anime stuff? If you're going to be staying around Tokyo, at least for a little while, there are tons of places to visit, especially for the anime stuff like Akihabara with cafes, games, anime stuff, manga, etc.

It also depends on your budget as well and if you're planning on going to make kinds of cafes, buying souvenirs, or things of that nature. It may help people to give you more suggestions if you can be specific with the details.

Aside from anime/manga, you don't give much. Not to mention length of trip, travel pace, budget, etc. "Best" can a hundred different things to a hundred different people. Of course there is Akihabara and Nakano Broadway in Tokyo, the Gundam statues, the Manga Museum in Kyoto etc. But there is much more to Japan - like:
arts
temples/shrines
castles
nature
hot springs
hiking
festivals
shopping
museums
gardens
folk crafts
pop culture
cuisine
.......etc

Decide what you like, then where in Japan you can find them. Browse this site! And look at others like the JNTO page and official city government pages, which all have their own tourist guides.

hi for gundam things, you can maybe look at the gundam statue at yokohama (near tokyo) https://gundam-factory.net/en/

My friend who loves gundam things is going there - they will be taking one of them down next year march so it's a perfect time to go.

and the unicorn gundam at odaiba (in tokyo) https://www.unicorn-gundam-statue.jp/en/.
