Obon festival

Arriving Osaka on 11 aug and will be there until 17 aug. Based on experience, does anyone know if Osaka will be very crowded during the obon festival?
Also thinking of making a trip to Kyoto during the weekend. Any advice on avoiding crowds?

Avoiding crowds in Kyoto is done by not going to the gmust see placesh but to other alternative places. Was there last this year in Gooden Week. Everyone asked me if it was crowded. Wasnft crowded at all where I went.

Osaka potentially will be less crowded than normal as people are leaving the city to go to their home village.
