JR Pass purchase 30 September

I am trying to confirm,if I buy JR Pass at the official website on 30Sep, can l make the start date 30Oct? Is that within the 30days?
We will be arriving in Tokyo on the 15Oct but l want to start using the 14day pass on the 30Oct.
I want to avoid paying the increase rates. I would prefer to by off the official website so l can make reservations.
Any advise would be welcome

Why not buy it now from outside Japan and have 3 months to activate it?
It's also cheaper.

Even before the price rise,
Japan Rail Pass (14-day) may well be more expensive
than JR regular tickets or,
combination of JR area pass and regular tickets.

From September the 30th,
October the 30th is the 31st day,
so it's outside the 30 days.

But..., "within the 30 days" is not a true condition.
Actually you can buy your JRP through the website
from 4 a.m. (JST) of the day one month prior to the start date.
Your application should be completed by 11:30 p.m. (JST).

(Japan Standard Time [JST] = UTC + 9 hours.)

For the 14 days from Oct. the 30th to Nov. the 12th,
generally JR trains would not be super-crowded.

November the 3rd (Friday) is a public holiday,
so during the expanded weekend,
some non-reserved seat cars might be packed,
but still you would find vacancy among seats which require reservation.

You may have more than 3 months until the start date.

Your Exchange Order purchased now on August the 31st
should be turned in for your JRP by November the 30th.
Regarding your JRP handed to you on November the 30th,
you can choose the start date from days until December the 29th.

Yes, I know, I already have my exchange order that I won't use till mid October.
I was suggesting the same to the OP.
